October 19th, 2022 – 9:42pm – Hostel In German Colony, Haifa, Israel:
I am exhausted. I left the hostel this morning at 9am and returned this evening at 9pm. Last night I met two Germans that happen to both be students at the University of Haifa as well… a girl and guy… we talked for awhile last night and decided to go to campus this morning to see about renting rooms in the dormitory on campus.
After the 50 minute bus ride this morning and a great deal of searching the campus for the right place we found where the dorm checking in was happening. I am considered a part-time student so I’m unable to rent a dorm room. So that is a door closed to me. I met an American student, a student from Greece, and a student from Spain on the tour of the campus given by the international school’s staff. It was a basic tour but worth the time. Then I gave my new friends a tour of Haifa… and finally returned them back to the campus and got myself back to my hostel.
Overall it was a busy but good day. Some of the students are talking about trying to get an Airbnb together which would be considerably cheaper than the hostel… the hostel is $900 a month (with no privacy and very far from campus) and sharing an Airbnb with the other students would be around $450 a month (for a room of my own with shared living spaces). This seems like a great opportunity to have a place to live but will of course require God to provide that money for me. Using Airbnb I would have to pay in advance for two months so I’d need to see donations or God’s special brand of provision around $2000.00.
It was great to be meeting so many people from so many parts of the world. A truly great cross cultural experience. I wonder what will come when classes start next Tuesday.
Please pray for God to provide for a long term living arrangement for me here in Haifa and to continue to provide for my food and other expenses.
Let’s see what God does next…
