What does eternal treasure look like? How does one discover it? When Jesus said, “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” what did He mean? What is this treasure?
So, in heaven… God provides all we need. It’s paradise right? Glorious light. Fellow children of God. Everything perfected in Christ. He went ahead of us to prepare us a place, right? So, we will have a heavenly dwelling.
Well, with all that, what is this treasure Jesus is speaking of that we should lay up in heaven?
That treasure is people.
Did you think it was piles of gold coin, perhaps diamonds, maybe some sort of heavenly crypto currency?
No… our treasure in heaven is people… other people.
I have had the remarkable privilege in my life to share my faith in Jesus Christ with other people and see them come to know Him. I have given clothes, shoes, and food to people who had none and through those gifts I ministered Jesus Christ to them. I have given to ministries and to missionaries so that they could go out and obediently do what God has called them to do. All of these things have stored up my treasure of people in heaven.
A few months ago I learned that my sister Blessing and her Husband Kyle along with their 5 children had accepted God’s call on their lives to go to Spain as missionaries. I was overjoyed! As I listened to God talk about this to me I could hear His excitement about their obedience to Him and in what He has planned for them there.
On top of that I learned that Blessing is creating a unique children’s Bible study for ages 5-10 years old called the Living Stones Study. She is posting this to her website making it available to everyone through a subscription service that will generate support for them as they prepare and go to the mission field in Spain.
Take a few minutes to check out their ministry page and pray about partnering with them in their obedience to God either financially or through prayer and in this way store up treasures of people for yourself in heaven:

They are preparing to go to Spain as soon as God brings all the pieces together for them. They still need to sell their house in Texas, check it out, maybe God will have you buy it from them to support their ministry:
We don’t usually think of giving to missions as becoming a part of the mission but they can’t go if we don’t give. They can’t go if we don’t pray. We are all the Body of Christ.
Also consider sharing this with others. The more people that discover their calling the more that can consider becoming partners with them to see Spain reached with the gospel.
