Vision #3 – The High Cliff

Vision #3 – The High Cliff

B.P.K. – 11/02/2025

I opened my eyes and saw…

…that I was standing on the edge of a high cliff.

I stepped back away from the edge of the precipice. The wind blew strongly against me. I secured my footing and lowered my weight to keep myself standing. I rose my right arm up to my face to block the wind from striking the sensitive skin there. The sound of the rushing wind was a loud roar in my ears. I stood my ground against its onslaught.

The ground beneath me lurched sideways, then just as suddenly lurched the opposite direction. I knew instantly that I stood at the epicenter of an incredibly strong earthquake. I fell to my knees and gripped the earth with my hands as it shook violently below me. It was as if the entire world was convulsing around me. The sound of rock grinding against rock joined the howling of the wind’s rushing past as if they were in league with one another against my senses, vying for dominance of my hearing.

I screamed in terror, a low cry of agony that burst out of the very center of my being.

“Look now!” The whisper came to me louder than the earth’s groaning or the wind’s howling.

I looked up and out over the edge of the cliff at the scenery below me. For as far as I could see the ground shook and trembled. I saw birds flying up and out of the forests below seeking the safety of the skies leaving behind their nests and young. The trees themselves abandoned their leaves and branches as they were shaken wildly from beneath. I saw on the far distant horizon below where the sun sat contented in the sky the mountains trembling. My mouth fell open. At such a distance I shouldn’t be able to see those mountains moving and yet they were moving. This was no isolated earthquake with a specific epicenter as I had thought at first. The whole planet was being shaken.

My stomach turned over. I gripped the ground more tightly. I felt as though every part of me was being shaken loose and blown apart.

“Make it stop!” I cried out in terror.

I heard a loud cracking sound in the distance and looked down into the valley below. The trees were breaking apart and falling into the ground. It was like watching a giant zipper being opened as the ground of the valley floor tore open. A massive fissure formed right in front of my eyes. The rupture raced across the valley floor and sped toward the cliff on which I perched. The cliff would be torn in two and I would be flung to my death. I froze. The rupture vanished below me out of sight. I braced myself and waited, but to my surprise the cliff remained intact. The shaking continued. The earth groaned. The wind blew.

Then everything stopped just as suddenly as it had started. The earth stopped shaking. The wind stopped blowing. All sound was quiet.

I cautiously stood to my feet and walked to the edge of the cliff to look down.

The valley below had a massive fissure torn in it. The fissure was so deep that I couldn’t see its bottom just blackness. Along its edges trees lay haphazard. Some of them held on barely by their roots to keep themselves from falling into the darkness below.

At the very far edge of the tear in the earth I saw that water was pouring into it. I could barely make out the sound of falling water from where I stood. I watched and waited. Then the bottom of the fissure began to glint and shine.

The fissure was filling with water.

I watched in awe as the entire fissure filled with water to form a beautiful new lake.

…I let go and found myself returned.
