A Glimpse Inside:
Chapter 10: Purpose, Calling, and Anointing
“Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God].” – Proverbs 29:18 AMP
Proverbs 29:18 speaks of purpose, calling, and anointing.
What do purpose, calling, and anointing have in common?
They are all essential to Revival.
If the purpose of Revival is to Return To God and awake from spiritual slumber, then people need a purpose to pursue. They need to understand their unique calling from the Lord. They need God’s anointing oil poured over them so that they have the vital and supernatural power, the ability to do, to pursue the purpose of their unique calling.
Why was I uniquely created?
If you have the answer to this question, then all your life begins to flow outward from it. If you know why God created you the way He created you, you will then understand that He made you perfectly suited to your unique calling. And after discovering these then you have found your purpose.
Purpose fuels Revival.
Why revive? Why is it so vital? Why is it so sought after? Why do people travel thousands of miles to go to a place “Revival” is happening? It is because they are longing and searching for purpose. They hope that in this “Revival” they will finally have what they are longing for: purpose.
Can you encounter God at a place where Revival is falling? Yes. But will that encounter change how you live day to day? That depends on if the encounter with God affects your life’s purpose. If it doesn’t then you leave after a week of meetings, the same as when you arrived. This is why Revival’s spark and then quickly die out.
Without vision the people perish.
I have seen many revivals spring up and I am always happy to see God moving. And each time I ask the Lord if I should go. His response is always the same, “Why go? When I am reviving you here.” Perhaps He will call you to go. But consider that true Revival happens in your heart alone with God daily.
This is the revival He wants. Your heart moment-by-moment.
He wants us to wake up daily and enter His presence. He wants us to get our purpose from our relationship and fellowship with Him. He wants us to have His love fill us so that when we go out among people His love pours out to others. He wants us to know our unique callings so that we can complete what He has uniquely created each of us to do in our lives. You were created FOR God. Until you understand this in your heart of hearts, you can’t experience true Revival.
