Front Cover, Back Cover, And Spine Artwork:

Book Description: “Where All Journeys Continue” continues the spiritual journey of a man that began in Part 1: Where All Journeys Begin. This continued journey is through the events of the life of Job. Lead on this journey by God Himself, it is a story that tells how God is God. It is a story written in modern language and using modern storytelling to bring excitement to the telling of the book of Job in a new way. Relive the story in a new way through the eyes of a man desperately in love with God but struggling deeply with his faith. It is a story of revelation and love; with all the pain and agony of the journey we all face each day.

A Glimpse Inside:

Chapter 3: The Throne Room

The angel and I stood among the crowd surrounding the brilliant radiance of the Throne of God. I looked everywhere and took in the beauty and majesty of the place. My senses were overwhelmed, and I don’t have the words to describe what I saw there.

I knew it was the day that the sons of God came to present themselves before Him. I knew this as I knew everything as we stood in heaven. Thoughts and knowledge were different here, they were perfect. Knowing and being known happened instantly here. The Holy Spirit filled that place and surrounded everyone and every being there radiating outward from the Throne of God.

I watched the scene before me in silence, as did my guide by my side.

One by one the angels, the sons of God, presented themselves before Him. Conversations happened between them, but those seemed distant and faded as quickly in my mind as they happened. I knew there was only one interaction that I was brought here to witness, and I knew I would only remember that one. Angel after angel presented themselves and then departed. Time had no meaning here in this place.

Soon I saw him, the Dark One, the one from my first journey. He was approaching the Throne of God now and would soon present himself to God. His turn came and he stepped forward and bowed low.

God spoke to the Dark One and I heard God’s words echo in my ears and in my spirit, “Where have you come from?”

The Dark One, Satan, the adversary, the accuser, answered the Lord, “From roaming around on the earth and from walking around on it.” There was a prideful air to the voice of the Dark One. His arrogance was plain to everyone there.

There was a moment of silence, then the Lord asked the Dark One, “Have you considered my servant Job? Have you reflected upon his life? For there is none like him on earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God with reverence and abstains from and turns away from evil because He honors me.”

The Dark One answered the Lord, “Does Job fear You for nothing? Have you not put a hedge of protection around him and his house and all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands and given him prosperity and happiness in all that he does, and his possessions have increased in the land. Put forth Your hand now and destroy all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face.”

Then God said to the Dark One, “Behold, all that Job has is in your power, only do not put your hand on the man himself.”

I watched a twisted smile form on the Dark One’s face as he turned quickly and departed the Throne of God.

The angel put his hand on my shoulder, and I felt its warmth. I stood looking out over the glorious scene before me. “Job.” I thought to myself. “This journey is about Job.”

“Wait,” I said softly to him, “If this is Job’s life, if this is Job’s journey, I am experiencing, then what happens to him next in the story I don’t want to experience.” I looked at the angel and saw sadness in his eyes. I had read the story of Job too many times to count. I had never really understood it. How God allowed all the loss and suffering to come to Job who was righteous and blameless before Him. Another part of a scripture came to mind suddenly as if from nowhere, “The Lord afflicts, but he binds up.” All my questions from all the times I had read the book of Job came flooding back to my mind. All the unanswered questions. I knew God to be God. I knew of God’s majesty, and I loved Job 38-42 so much. The God of all creation was telling Job who He was as the Creator. Then He restores double to Job now that part of the story I would gladly experience. But what came next… No. No one should have to experience all the loss and pain that Job suffered.

“I know.” the angel said, breaking into my thoughts with a whisper. He continued to hold on to my shoulder. “This is the journey God wants you to take and so you must.”

I let my head drop. The first journey was so intense from start to finish but I had learned so much and seen so much. I trusted God, I really, really did. “Why was I wrestling so much with Him?” I wondered, “Why was I so angry?” I knew I needed to finish this journey. I knew God had something He wanted to show me through it and no matter how much I dreaded what came next, I knew I had to face it.

I looked up at the angel and said slowly, “I’m ready.” He nodded his head and we dropped from Heaven like lightning. We were blazing through black space again, with the trail of light streaming from us as we fell. All went black and I knew… I knew what came next…
