Book Description: “The Second Book To Know Him” is Part 37 of The Book Of Benjamin Kareth. This book is a journey into solitude, and from solitude to discover Who God is… in 2021 God called me to come and know Him more. And so as my Solitude continues that is what I am seeking to do. This book is a collection of my daily findings on Who God is… it is my seeking To Know Him more and to make Him Known to the world.
A Glimpse Inside:
Chapter 18: The Refuge From The Storm
To Know Him… He is a refuge from the storm.
The storms of life come quickly and out of nowhere. Grief, loss, pain, abuse, hunger, financial issues, and so much more are just crouching waiting to strike, but God is a refuge we can run to for safety and help.
No storm we face ever surprises Him. He has numbered and seen all our days. I find wonderful comfort knowing that He has already seen my todays and my tomorrows. They are all in His hands. As we run to God as our refuge, He can strengthen and sustain us through them. He can give us His eternal perspective on each storm we face. He can teach us how to pray through them to see His will and His purposes done in us and in those around us. Running to God as our refuge requires us to humble ourselves and become like little children before Him. We cannot say, “I’ve got this.” Because clearly, we don’t. We must say, “Father, save me!” And “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” And in an instant His peace becomes a wall around our hearts and our minds to protect us and keep us from all evil. I love thunderstorms. I am from Texas, and we have some horrible thunderstorms. The wind, the lightning, the thunder, and the dark clouds all roll in quickly across the flat ground. One moment everything is sunny and bright and the next it’s a total noisy downpour. I love to sit inside and watch the storm pass by outside. Often things that are outside get tossed about here and there. They take flight and are thrown about and damaged. But I am safe inside. Life with God as our refuge is like this. When we run to Him as the storms approach then we can sit inside His love and His peace and watch the storm pass. If we refuse to run to Him then we most certainly will get tossed about and damaged by whatever it is that has come upon us suddenly.
