Book Description: “Moral Courage” is Part 41 of The Book Of Benjamin Kareth. What is Moral Courage and how does it relate to our spiritual life serving God on this earth? Moral Courage is doing the right thing in the face of great opposition. In our modern world today we need moral courage to stand for what is right and godly among our peers. Moral Courage is a gift of the Holy Spirit of God to those who choose the path of obedience to Him. This book is an exploration of Moral Courage as it relates to a life serving the Living God.
A Glimpse Inside:
Chapter 9: Choice Follows Choice
Choice follows choice. God gave us choice and free will. You and I have choices to make every single moment of every single day. That was God’s gift to us the ability to choose between His way and ours. As much as we may hate that Adam and Eve sinned bring death into this world, there is another way to look at it. We have the wonderful freedom to freely choose God and His ways. We can choose to live the life He has given us to serve Him and to fulfill our purpose, the purpose for which we were created.
Choice follows choice. One choice we make will lead to the next. This is so very important to understand as we follow after Jesus in this life. We don’t suddenly come upon something difficult and are able to face it, for we would probably fall. No. God trains us up as children in the way we should go. The trials and temptations that come to us He has already prepared us with everything we need to face them. A small choice of His way today will allow us to make the larger choices down the road. Small steps in faith and obedience today lead us down the path to the large steps of faith and obedience later on. Choice follows choice.
I look back over these past six years and I am in awe. Look at where I was and where God has brought me today. We often look at the generals of the faith and wish God would use us in the spotlight on a stage to speak out His word, but we forget that each of those men and women made a choice long ago, that led them to another choice, and on and on. We may not see the high price they paid for the anointing that rests now on their lives.
Today I sit writing this book which is the 41st book of this series. I could not have suddenly come back to God and begin to write this book. I wasn’t prepared then, but I am now. God taught me how to write while listening to Him… but it all started with me listening and obeying Him all those years ago.
I had to be broken. I had to suffer. I had to travel all over this country and around the world alone. I faced poverty. I faced ridicule and persecution. God trained me through all of it. He showed me my wicked heat and taught me to draw close to Him. He has taken me through the depths of loneliness and taught me to get all I need emotionally and spiritually from Him. And now I am in Solitude and Obscurity doing what He uniquely created me to do. I am filling my purpose… His purpose for my life. It is a lonely calling that’s for sure, but God put in me and gave me all I would need to sit here in this empty room and listen and finish this book series.
Choice follows choice. Obedience follows obedience. Faith follows faith. It is an upward journey to be sure. Two steps forward and one back. Up and up. Always holding tightly to Him and trusting Him to do His work in us.
As we consider what is moral courage we must somehow realize that God will prepare us and give us all we need for every situation as we yield to the Holy Spirit’s working in us. We must die to ourselves, and unlike physical death, dying to ourselves is a gradual, life-long process. Choice follows choice. A small choice for God today will lead you down the paths that lead to the larger choices. That’s called sanctification. God transforming us to be more and more like Jesus as we walk with Him day after day.
