My God Provides Bread

I want to tell you a story of what God just did for me today…

Do you ever feel like God is distant? Far from you? Doesn’t care?

Well… maybe this story will encourage you.

A couple months ago God told me to remain in my apartment and not leave for any reason. I was to use Instacart for groceries. I have obeyed…

But using Instacart has a drawback… I have to order a large order whenever God provides money for me to do so. If I forget something I cannot leave to run to the store to pick it up.

Over the past month and a half I keep running out of bread between grocery deliveries. And… I run out of bread despite purchasing two loafs of bread. (I eat a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches).

So, last week I was thinking to myself how nice it would be to be able to just bake my own bread in my apartment. I looked up what bread making machines, flour, etc. costs and it was crazy expensive. So… that idea is out…

This morning I was messaging back and forth with my friend who is also a video game developer. We only met a few weeks ago and discovered we were both Christians… so our friendship has grown centered around the video games we are making. We discovered the strange circumstance that we both live in the same city… well, he lives in a suburb of Toledo about 15 minutes by car away. He is married with children.

So… this morning we are talking and He says something about perhaps getting together. He asked if I could leave my apartment. I replied, “No.” I said that he is welcome to stop by and say hi anytime he’d like.

I joked to him, “And bring some bread when you come.” (cause I am once again out of bread and have no money to buy groceries at the moment)

He replied, “My wife bakes homemade bread. I’ll bring you some.”

So… in the next couple of days my new friend is going to bring me some homemade bread.

How does this relate to God?

You really have to follow the path of my journey to see all the moments God cares for me in an extremely personal way. He doesn’t just sit up in heaven watching to see if I’m doing right or wrong. He is actively involved in my daily care.

He cares about the things I care about.

This is the God I serve… a personal God who cares.

I never asked God for bread. He just provided for me on His own…

Don’t you see?

There are thousands of stories like this throughout my book series.

There are stories like this in the Undivided Purpose Project videos.

I serve a personal God.

He is my God and my friend.

He cares about things I don’t even pray about.

That is how much He loves me.

I certainly am far from perfect… I don’t deserve His love.

But through Jesus Christ… God has made a way for me, sinner that I am, to be in a personal relationship with Him, the God who created me and everything that exists.

My hope is that you will seek Him and find Him.

And you too can have a personal relationship with Him.
