Part 55: The Second Sanctification

Front Cover, Back Cover, And Spine Artwork:

Book Description: “The Second Sanctification” is Part 55 of The Book Of Benjamin Kareth. The Second Sanctification is an exploration of the journey we take through this life following Jesus Christ and are transformed into a new creation by the power of the Holy Spirit. This journey of sanctification happens as we call on the Lord to save us and trust Him to do His work in and through us in this life with the days He has given us.

A Glimpse Inside:

Chapter 6: He Who Began Will Complete

God will finish the work He began in you. God is faithful and we can trust that what God began to do in us He will finish. As it is written:

“I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]. [Rom 14:10]” – Philippians 1:6 AMP

This verse speaks of the Second Sanctification: of our continued growth in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are held by God in this world to accomplish what He created us to accomplish in Him and through Him.

You were created for a specific purpose as are all of God’s children. As it is written:

“For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.” – Philippians 2:13 AMP

We do nothing by our own strength but as we humble ourselves before God asking for His help to accomplish the things He has asked us to, then He does help us and empower us to do those things. We must learn humility by what we suffer through obedience just as Jesus Christ did.

I never want to write. This is a truth I’ve battled these past six years. People would think that I love to write and that’s why God asked me to write a book series… but nothing could be further from the truth. I hate writing. I find it very boring. It’s such an odd admission for sure… but it is also a testimony of both God’s faithfulness and my surrender and obedience to Him. I write to obey what He has asked me to do. I am inspired to write by the Holy Spirit. I am driven to write by the power of God. It is God working in and through me. And this all is a testimony to others of Him. When I sit to write I simply pray, “Have your will through me.” And He does. He works in and through me to write the pages of all these books. My part of that process is both obedience and surrender. I must lay down my own ways and do what He has asked me to do. God will finish writing this book series through me… of this I have zero doubt. I can say this because I know who He is. I know that the books get written because I have seen them in heaven in my prepared place. I have held all 100 in my hands. They exist in eternity… but not yet fully in this temporal world. Serving God is such wonderful mystery. To be caught up in the plans and will of the Father is incredible. I highly recommend it for your life as well. Seek His will for your life and you’ll soon find yourself carried along by His power to accomplish His will on this earth.

Chapter 15: The Anvil Of Life

As God refines us, He uses the circumstances of our lives to do just that. When we come to Him and begin to walk with Him then He uses every circumstance we face to refine us as gold. Life is the anvil on which He hammers us into something beautiful. If only we trust Him to do the work in and through us, He promised to do. He is the author and the finisher of our faith. He knows the plans He has for us and they are plans to prosper us and to give us hope and a future.

I can testify that God is good and that everything that He does is good. I have seen this through the suffering I have endured as I have “listened and obeyed” Him. I did not know what He was doing at the time but now I look back and I see His hands all over the paths He led me down.

The paths that I walk today are the paths that He planned for me to walk before I was ever born. What an amazing thing that is! And God has asked me to lay my life down before Him on the anvil of this life so that He might refine me into pure gold. What a painful journey it has been as I have had to die to my selfish ways. I still have far to go! But God is faithful! He is always faithful! He will carry me home to be with Him.

Learning to love suffering in this life, not because we enjoy suffering, but because we know what the suffering produces in us: an eternal weight of glory. Nothing compares to looking back at a season of suffering and seeing the wonderful glory that radiates off our hearts as we have been refined on the anvil of life.
