Tonight I was reminded what my journey is truly about. It is not about writing books, but it is about serving others moment by moment.
Love is to selflessly seek the greater or highest good for another.
Tonight I met a couple with a son who had just gotten out of chemotherapy. He had relapsed again and been battling cancer since he was three years old. I was able to share with them hope and gave them the email of a dear friend who God uses mightily to pray for healing for others.
As I walked home God reminded me of His eternal perspective of my life. I look at the day by day journey and the personal cost… He sees all the individual moments where His love is shared with people who might not otherwise have felt or heard of it.
If the only reason God sent me to this little town was to share hope with this family tonight isn’t it worth it all? The answer is a simple yes.
They are the why.
It’s like God asked me, “Will you leave what is comfortable to you, all your family and friends, will you leave behind all you own and go to a place I will show you for the simple reason of sharing hope with a single family?”
“Who will go for us? Who will we send?”
“Here I am Lord, send me.”
“It will cost you everything.”
“Ok.”
“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” – Jim Elliot
So… my question to you today is, “Are you willing to give your whole life away, so that one person can hear about Him?”
I’m about to spend Christmas alone but I am filled to overflowing with joy… because I am right where God sent me.
What is my life worth?
I would hope that someone out there would obey God and go to bring me the hope that is knowing Him.
And then I am reminded that He did.
He sent His only Son for me. Jesus left heaven and His Father… to come die for me in obedience to His Father’s call to go.
