Part 49: Like A Child –

Chapter 6: Eternal Agelessness

There is a quality I have seen in the lives of the saints of God, the children of God who have walked most closely with Him, and that quality is: child likeness.

These normal people have been humbled by the Almighty Hand of God and have fully realized God as their Heavenly Father.

They have regained their innocence before Him through Jesus Christ.

They have learned to surrender and yield to Him moving and working in and through their life.

They have gained the unshakable faith of those who are no longer living in this world but living for the next one, the eternal one, the one that matters.

They trust His provision.

They see that He is a Good Father who gives AND takes away.

They praise and thank Him for everything that comes their way with absolute joy: that joy comes from their childlike heart.

With arms open wide God has run to them and they have run to Him allowing Him to sweep them up into His arms.

They have let down their guards and given up their survival instincts to Him.

They trust Him absolutely, not by some mystical force of will, no, but by experience. By walking day after day with Him they have learned that He is absolutely, eternally faithful and trustworthy.

They have been forgiven much and so they love much.

They have learned to forgive others and to continually walk in forgiveness.

They are the imperfect being perfected.

They are the masterpieces of artwork of the God who created everything and holds everything in His hands.

They are truly the children of God.

All of this gives them an ageless quality. They possess an eternal agelessness. It permeates all that they are. It is the light that pours out of them. It is laughter and joy, even in the hardest times. The Holy Spirit within them is like a fire of joy that burns brightly and never dims.

They look young physically young… this eternal agelessness is a gift from the Holy Spirit, who is continually renewing them from within. God is life and these, his children, are renewed by the life of God coursing through their veins.

These children of God are His generals in their generations. They lead the charge against the darkness, calling others to follow them towards Christ. They speak without speaking as they live out their journey through obedience to God who never leaves their side.

When the eternal rewards are given out, they certainly will not lose theirs. Take all of this and ponder it. Consider it. Redefine your image of what a child of God is. See with spiritual eyes for yourself what a child of God looks like in this world.
