  • The Final Stretch, Ministry Update

What a crazy journey it has been so far. Starting from the parking lot of a grocery store in Hilton Head, SC, traveling all over the country and around the world, then finally arriving here in Toledo, OH of all places…

To all of you who have been there following this journey I want to say Thank you for all your prayers/support along the way! Without you I would not have gotten this far… to see 72 books published so far… soon to be 78.

    The Final Stretch

We are in the Final Stretch of this journey now.

We are running the Final Lap around the track.

I can see the Finish Line in the distance; the moment that I write the last word, on the last page, of the last chapter, of the last book of this book series.

A lot has happened since my last ministry update, so allow me to fill you in…

I am currently in a one-bedroom apartment in Toledo, OH. God told me October 19th, 2025 to “Remain” in my apartment without leaving it. I have obeyed and since not left my apartment once. I am not working but believing God to provide all I need to pay my bills and buy food to eat. I am praying 7 times a day and working on writing the book series 7 times a day… with not much time between.

    Giving Away The Promise

About two weeks ago God told me it was time to lay down the book series, that I was to “give it all away”. I have known this was coming for a long time now… but the moment finally arrived. God told me to whom I was to give it all to. So, I reached out to those I was to give it to and they began to pray about it. I wrestled with this decision with lots of tears… after all this book series has been my life for over seven years now. (Amazing what you find lurking in your heart when God asks you to give away everything). But God is gracious… and slowly I grieved the loss… reminding myself that this book series has never been mine, it has always been God’s… how could I be sad about giving away something that’s never belong to me in the first place?… well…

Monday of this week I received word that the people I’m giving the book series to agreed to it. So, it was done then.

God told me in that moment that I was to draft up a letter stating my intent to transfer all copyrights, publishing rights, rights to income, etc over to these people.

So, I obeyed. I wrote a letter stating my intent, signed it, and sent it to those people. I think this was more of a spiritual exercise than anything binding in court… that part is to come soon. We are working towards making it official and legal… a transfer of copyright assignment… or whatever it’s legally called when one “gives away” the rights to a book or books.

    So, it was done.

I no longer own the books of this book series, they belong now to others.

I will be continuing to write the books of the series and they will be still be published. The only thing that has really changed is that any royalties from either the book series books or the audio books will go to those to whom own the rights now.

Basically, the book series is no longer in my hands. I have laid it down. And when it is finished I will be able to walk away from it and leave it behind in the hands of those who now own it.

I have chosen not to disclose the identity of my friends who are now the owners of the book series, but if they choose they can disclose that themselves however they like.

Imagine when someone dies, their books are left in an estate for others to profit from and manage. That is what has happened this week.

    I am still grieving a bit… but… I understand the whys.

Now I turn my attention to completing this journey… to finish walking out the obedience to God faithfully by writing the rest of the book of this book series.

I often wonder what will become of me after I am done. God has said that I will “Rest” whatever He means by that. Will I die? Will I step into that final Obscurity and travel the world as a stranger, a nomad, and a pilgrim telling anyone I meet about the love of God?

Only God knows at this point… but that day is not here…

I am currently finishing up the 78th book of the series… after that I will publish Parts 73-78.

On January 9th, 2026, I will step once again into Deep Solitude to complete this journey…

I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider supporting me financially as I complete this journey. I am about $700 short in what I receive monthly in donations to pay all my bills.

If you decide to support me financially you can give via Modern Day which I receive once a month around the 6th:

    Support Via Modern Day

Or you can give a gift I’ll receive in a few days via GoFundMe:

    Support Instantly Via GoFundMe

I really appreciate all the support you guys have given over the past years. You have been a part of seeing that this book series comes about.

    Until that day!…

  • Part 41: Moral Courage

Front Cover, Back Cover, And Spine Artwork:

Book Description: “Moral Courage” is Part 41 of The Book Of Benjamin Kareth. What is Moral Courage and how does it relate to our spiritual life serving God on this earth? Moral Courage is doing the right thing in the face of great opposition. In our modern world today we need moral courage to stand for what is right and godly among our peers. Moral Courage is a gift of the Holy Spirit of God to those who choose the path of obedience to Him. This book is an exploration of Moral Courage as it relates to a life serving the Living God.

    A Glimpse Inside:

    Chapter 9: Choice Follows Choice

Choice follows choice. God gave us choice and free will. You and I have choices to make every single moment of every single day. That was God’s gift to us the ability to choose between His way and ours. As much as we may hate that Adam and Eve sinned bring death into this world, there is another way to look at it. We have the wonderful freedom to freely choose God and His ways. We can choose to live the life He has given us to serve Him and to fulfill our purpose, the purpose for which we were created.

Choice follows choice. One choice we make will lead to the next. This is so very important to understand as we follow after Jesus in this life. We don’t suddenly come upon something difficult and are able to face it, for we would probably fall. No. God trains us up as children in the way we should go. The trials and temptations that come to us He has already prepared us with everything we need to face them. A small choice of His way today will allow us to make the larger choices down the road. Small steps in faith and obedience today lead us down the path to the large steps of faith and obedience later on. Choice follows choice.

I look back over these past six years and I am in awe. Look at where I was and where God has brought me today. We often look at the generals of the faith and wish God would use us in the spotlight on a stage to speak out His word, but we forget that each of those men and women made a choice long ago, that led them to another choice, and on and on. We may not see the high price they paid for the anointing that rests now on their lives.

Today I sit writing this book which is the 41st book of this series. I could not have suddenly come back to God and begin to write this book. I wasn’t prepared then, but I am now. God taught me how to write while listening to Him… but it all started with me listening and obeying Him all those years ago.

I had to be broken. I had to suffer. I had to travel all over this country and around the world alone. I faced poverty. I faced ridicule and persecution. God trained me through all of it. He showed me my wicked heat and taught me to draw close to Him. He has taken me through the depths of loneliness and taught me to get all I need emotionally and spiritually from Him. And now I am in Solitude and Obscurity doing what He uniquely created me to do. I am filling my purpose… His purpose for my life. It is a lonely calling that’s for sure, but God put in me and gave me all I would need to sit here in this empty room and listen and finish this book series.

Choice follows choice. Obedience follows obedience. Faith follows faith. It is an upward journey to be sure. Two steps forward and one back. Up and up. Always holding tightly to Him and trusting Him to do His work in us.

As we consider what is moral courage we must somehow realize that God will prepare us and give us all we need for every situation as we yield to the Holy Spirit’s working in us. We must die to ourselves, and unlike physical death, dying to ourselves is a gradual, life-long process. Choice follows choice. A small choice for God today will lead you down the paths that lead to the larger choices. That’s called sanctification. God transforming us to be more and more like Jesus as we walk with Him day after day.

  • Part 40: Power And Purity

Front Cover, Back Cover, And Spine Artwork:

Book Description: “Power And Purity” is Part 40 of The Book Of Benjamin Kareth. Power is: “the ability to do”. Simple as that. Power is a word that describes the ability of people, angels, demons, or God to do, work, command, etc. Purity… the quality of excellence of a person or thing, freedom from adulteration or contamination, and freedom from immorality, especially of a sexual nature. The condition or quality of being pure; free from anything that debases, contaminates, pollutes, etc. This book is an exploration of Power And Purity as they relate to life serving the Living God.

    A Glimpse Inside:

    Chapter 9: Inward Power

Inward power is such a funny title for a chapter to me. When God told me that this would be the title of a chapter in this book I think I actually laughed out loud.

Man has no inward ability… no spiritual power apart from what God gives and enables us to have and even that comes from Him and never from ourselves. Our spiritual power, our ability to do spiritual things, is not of ourselves at all… it flows from the Holy Spirit of God who is dwelling within us as followers of Jesus Christ. Andrew if we have spiritual power as an unbeliever then our spiritual power comes from demons and the like in the spiritual world.

We can take actions and say words… it’s true… but we are just a temple, a conduit of God’s power flowing through us out into the world.

Take my “power, my ability to do” to write these books. Certainly, that does not come from me at all. God is empowering me with the talent to write words as He leads. I am typing the words on my phone now, but it is God who is flowing through my fingers, and it is He that is going to enable these words to speak to your heart. I know who is writing these books and it certainly isn’t me but the Holy Spirit that is dwelling within me. Otherwise, these books would have no power, no ability to do, to change lives of people who read them.

That is just one example… the Word Of God is filled with examples. Always it is God’s Holy Spirit within a man or woman that causes things to happen from within them. The purity of our glass… our inner world… for God’s Holy Spirit to work through determines the output of His power into the world around us. But this is something that He must teach us as He leads us on in our walk with Him. We must experience it for ourselves to fully understand it. We can try and try on our own and find that nothing happens. God must do it through us, and it will be to accomplish His will on this earth and not our own.

  • Part 39: The Letters To The Apostles Of The World

Front Cover, Back Cover, And Spine Artwork:

Book Description: “The Letters To The Apostles Of The World” is Part 39 of The Book Of Benjamin Kareth. This book was written in obedience to the Lord and it is a collection of prophetic letters written to the apostles of the world who were, who are now, and who will be.

    A Glimpse Inside:

Chapter 12: To Those Who Have Lost Heart

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. I am writing to you as I was called to do by the same King. This letter comes to you in all the love of the Father in heaven who is watching you today. He sends His greetings.

This is His word to you today:

“I see you my child and I see how you have lost heart and have become weary and tired along the journey. I see the way your feet struggle to take another step. I see that you wish to simply sit and rest for a while. So, come away with me. Come with me to a quiet place and let me speak life and strength back into your soul. I will hold you close and fill you to overflowing with My Holy Spirit. I will refresh you with My words of victory and I will sing over you My songs of triumph. Rest awhile with me and I will restore you so that we can walk again on the journey I have called you to.”

To those who have lost heart I say, “This road is narrow, and it is hard to travel on. This is true. But nothing is impossible with God. So, I say rise up! Rise up and go to a quiet place. Take off your helmet and armor. Lay your sword and shield down. Rest on the grass and allow the Living God to restore your strength with His love. Sing a new song to Him. Sing and keep on singing praises to God who has called you to the journey He has you walking on. Is it you who supplies strength for the journey? Certainly not. This journey is too hard for you, so rest with Him for a while. Be still and know that He is God. Be refreshed and filled to overflowing with His Holy Spirit.”

In the name of the King of kings, Jesus, Grace, and peace to you, Benjamin

Chapter 32: To Those Who Struggle With Identity

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. I am writing to you as I was called to do by the same King. This letter comes to you in all the love of the Father in heaven who is watching you today. He sends His greetings.

This is His word to you today:

“You are mine. That is your identity in Me. You are called and chosen by Me. I hold you in the palms of My hands. I hide you under the shadow of my wings. I protect you. I lead you. You are my child, and I am your Father. You are my apostle who I have sent forth to accomplish my will on the earth. I have uniquely prepared and equipped you for the service you are to perform for me according to my will. Be strong and courageous. Hold fast to me and I will strengthen you as you go out to where I’ve called you to go.”

To those who struggle with identity, I say, “We are a new creation in Jesus Christ. Whatever we were before, whatever labels we used to define ourselves, no longer matter. That person is dead and buried. You are now to be called, “Loved by God, Belonging To God, Called of the Lord.” These are your new names. Hold fast to what He has said you are. Letting go of all that this world tries to define as their identity for they have none at all.”

In the name of the King of kings, Jesus, Grace, and peace to you, Benjamin

  • Part 38: The First Incredible Adventures Of The Girl With No Shoes

Front Cover, Back Cover, And Spine Artwork:

Book Description: “The First Incredible Adventures Of The Girl With No Shoes” is Part 38 of The Book Of Benjamin Kareth. This is a fictional story that follows Anne, the girl with no shoes, as she travels to a mysterious world through a pond to help a king and queen fight away the darkness that is threatening the seven realms. This is part one of a seven part series.

    A Glimpse Inside:

    Chapter 2: The Carriage Ride

Anna swung her tiny, bare feet back and forth as they hung over the back seat of the carriage. Her mother sat next to her holding Anne’s new baby sister Jubilee with one hand and with her other hand she held Anne securely on the seat, so she didn’t fall off the carriage as it bumped up and down on the rocks of the dirt road.

Anne’s father sat up on the main seat of the carriage with the reins in his hands guiding the two, massive black horses forward down the road that would lead them to their new home. Anne brushed back her bright, long, reddish-brown, and curly hair from her face so that she could see the snow falling easier.

It had just begun to snow, and the air was starting to chill around them as the sun began to set on the horizon through the trees. This wasn’t the first snow of the winter, and it surely wouldn’t be the last. They were high atop a mountain pass now and were beginning to descend the other side into the small valley that cradled the town of Miracle Valley. The ground around them was already covered with a white sheet of glistening snow.

Anne couldn’t see over the luggage that was piled high on the back of the carriage, so she looked from side to side as the carriage rolled along into the deepening night. She loved the light from the setting sun that broke through the surrounding landscape of the mountain pass. She loved the deep green of the trees and she loved how they hugged the mountain side and pointed straight up to the sky. She loved the glimpses of forest creatures she saw here and there along their journey. Every now and then a hawk or an eagle would fly high overhead and Anne would wonder what it might be like to soar on the wind.

Anne loved the snow; it brought back so many wonderful memories from her earlier years. Her father would always take her outside to play in the first snow of each year. It had become a tradition of theirs and Anne loved it so. She would run back and forth as her father would chase her. She would pick up handfuls of the newly fallen snow and hurl them at him. Sometimes she would hit him, and he would let out a woeful groan as if mortally wounded. Then he would scoop her up and swing her down through the blanket of snow. Anne smiled at the fond memories.

Anne was very excited, although maybe a little nervous, about all the changes that her small family was going through now. She had just turned seven years old three weeks ago and life seemed to be moving along very quickly to her. With the arrival of her new sister her world had seemed to have grown so much larger. She helped her mother with the new baby as much as she was able. She learned to change the stinky clothes that served as diapers whenever the baby decided it was time to gift the family with her ‘smelly gifts’, as Anna had come to call them. Anne loved her new sister so very much and she thought surely everyone should have a baby sister just like her so they could know her joy as well.

Ever since her mother had given birth it seemed that her cheeks were always a bright pink color and she never stopped smiling. She glowed with joy. Anne often asked her mother about her own birth and loved hearing the stories of how she had been born in a clearing in the woods as her parents had been out on a hike when Anne decided to arrive unannounced into the world. Anne had been born ‘feet first’ into the world and that was Anne’s favorite part of the stories. Anne loved to be barefoot, much to her parents’ dismay.

Her father had been transferred to a new job in a new town far from the big city. He was a banker. Anne had left behind so many good friends, all of whom she had grown up with over the years. Her mother promised that she would make new ones in their new town. Anne wasn’t sure how easy that would be as she remembered what a struggle it had been to make the friends that she had made in the big city. She would miss her best friend Kate and Kate’s little brother Tommy. She spent most of her free time with them after school each day until her mother got off work at the bakery. Kate was seven like Anne and Tommy was five years old. Their mother stayed home every day to take care of her children so Anne would go to their house after school to play.

Her mother had told her over and over to be brave about the move. Her mother needed her help with her new baby sister. “Your sister needs you to be brave now, Anne.” Her mother would say as Anne sat on the packed trunks skulking and moaning about not wanting to move. “Big girls know how to go through changes in life and you’re a big girl now! You’re already seven!”

Somehow Anne knew her mother was right of course, but she wanted to be sad. She had said goodbye to Kate the night before they left riding in the carriage and they both cried for a good long while. Kate promised to write, and Anne promised the same. Life would not be the same without Kate but somehow Anne knew she had to be brave.

The sun sank below the horizon and her father stopped the carriage long enough to light the lanterns that stuck out on the four corners of the carriage swinging at the end of black iron bars. He also pulled a heavy travel blanket from one of the many trunks and wrapped it around his ‘three ladies’ in the back of the carriage. He tucked the edges of the blankets around each of them to make sure they were plenty warm for the long night ahead.

“Oh Anne!” Her father exclaimed when he saw her tiny bare feet exposed to the cold air. “Where are your shoes, young lady?”

He opened the carriage door and reached down and looked around the bottom of the carriage for her shoes. He found both quickly where they had been discarded.

“Oh papa, you know I don’t like to wear shoes at all.” Anne grumbled with a huge grin on her face. Anne loved to feel the ground and the open air on her feet. She had spent most of her childhood without shoes on and was always getting scolded for taking them off.

Her father gave her his usual disapproving look and then put each of her tiny shoes back onto her feet. He knew full well that she would take them off again shortly, but he had to try. The feeling of the cold fabric of the shoes on her feet made her squirm. Anne felt so confined when she wore shoes. He tucked her small feet under the heavy blanket.

“There you go.” He said, smiling.

“Oh, Richard, you know she will just take them off again dear.” Her mother said with a sigh. “Let’s get going again now, please.”

Anne was grateful for the warmth of the heavy blanket even if it almost swallowed her whole. Her head stuck out of it enough for her to still see the dark of the night falling around them and the light snow that continued to fall. She could see the distant lights of their new town in the valley below. Her father jumped back into the driver’s seat and set the horses back in motion. The carriage rolled on bumping and jolting harshly as it went. He loved to drive the carriage with his family in tow. He spent a great deal of time spoiling the two massive horses and they listen well to his clicks and commands.

“Not long now, Lovie!” Richard yelled back to his wife over his shoulder.

“You said that hours ago!” Her mother shouted back, giving Anne a quick sideways smile. Little Jubilee stirred a bit in her mother’s arms but continued to sleep deeply. Anne returned her thoughts to the life she had left in the big city and to thoughts of her new home.

“What would this new town be like? What will our new house be like? Will there be any children my age to play with?” She wondered to herself. “Would it take her long to make a good friend like Kate? Would there be any girls her age in her new town?” So many questions ran through her head.

The night deepened around the small family as the carriage traveled ever forward pulled gracefully by the two huge black horses. The stars came out and shone brightly in this other world of empty dirt roads and wild fields with no manmade light to hide them. The whole world seemed still and quiet except for the sound of the carriage and the horse’s hoofbeats. Anne’s mother had always been a quiet woman and as Anne looked up at her she knew that her mother was lost in thought and very close to falling asleep now. Her mother looked down at her and brushed some hair off her face then began to sing, “Oh, Oh, here we go again, Oh, Oh, we are off to a new land, Oh, Oh, where will we be when we arrive, Oh, Oh, I know home is where we’ll be.” Anne listened to the gentle words of her mother’s song and suddenly felt very sleepy herself. She curled up against her mother’s arm and slowly drifted off to sleep and began to dream of a new life in a new town in a new country far away from the big city…

  • Part 37: The Second Book To Know Him

Front Cover, Back Cover, And Spine Artwork:

Book Description: “The Second Book To Know Him” is Part 37 of The Book Of Benjamin Kareth. This book is a journey into solitude, and from solitude to discover Who God is… in 2021 God called me to come and know Him more. And so as my Solitude continues that is what I am seeking to do. This book is a collection of my daily findings on Who God is… it is my seeking To Know Him more and to make Him Known to the world.

    A Glimpse Inside:

Chapter 18: The Refuge From The Storm

To Know Him… He is a refuge from the storm.

The storms of life come quickly and out of nowhere. Grief, loss, pain, abuse, hunger, financial issues, and so much more are just crouching waiting to strike, but God is a refuge we can run to for safety and help.

No storm we face ever surprises Him. He has numbered and seen all our days. I find wonderful comfort knowing that He has already seen my todays and my tomorrows. They are all in His hands. As we run to God as our refuge, He can strengthen and sustain us through them. He can give us His eternal perspective on each storm we face. He can teach us how to pray through them to see His will and His purposes done in us and in those around us. Running to God as our refuge requires us to humble ourselves and become like little children before Him. We cannot say, “I’ve got this.” Because clearly, we don’t. We must say, “Father, save me!” And “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” And in an instant His peace becomes a wall around our hearts and our minds to protect us and keep us from all evil. I love thunderstorms. I am from Texas, and we have some horrible thunderstorms. The wind, the lightning, the thunder, and the dark clouds all roll in quickly across the flat ground. One moment everything is sunny and bright and the next it’s a total noisy downpour. I love to sit inside and watch the storm pass by outside. Often things that are outside get tossed about here and there. They take flight and are thrown about and damaged. But I am safe inside. Life with God as our refuge is like this. When we run to Him as the storms approach then we can sit inside His love and His peace and watch the storm pass. If we refuse to run to Him then we most certainly will get tossed about and damaged by whatever it is that has come upon us suddenly.

  • Foreword For Part 72

“I asked my good friends who own the Farm that I speak so often of in this book series if they would like to write a Foreword for Part 72: Where All Journeys Grow… A few days ago, my friend sent me the Foreword. I have added to the start of the book and updated the Kindle, Paperback, and Hardcover formats on Amazon.com to include it. I have also added it to the description for the book. All my thanks to God and to my friend for this incredible Foreword to introduce people to the journey in this book. May it point people toward God.” – Benjamin Kareth

    Here it is:

Part 72: Where All Journeys Grow

    Foreword by Matt Wallace

Having known Benjamin Kareth for quite some time and followed the trajectory of his real life, I can attest that this story is the cinematic cousin of his actual journey.

What often defies human logic and what I believe is central to the heart of this book is the concept of apparent chaos giving way to a divine, perfectly orchestrated pattern in hindsight. The core of this work is not found in the specifics of the plot, the details of the actions, or the storyline itself, but in the vibe and process that flows from someone committed to radical obedience, willing to roll with whatever comes along in that pursuit.

For those who feel they must control every variable of their lives, this story will be baffling. It is the antithesis of self-mastery. But for the reader willing to consider it, this narrative offers tangible proof of whether Jesus Christ can direct a daily life in ways that lead to an extraordinary, abundant existence.

Let me be clear: this story should not be emulated. No one could, even if they tried. What can and should be taken from this is the mindset; one of profound appreciation for the possibility that obedience at all costs can ultimately make more sense than anything humanity could ever dream up on its own.

Or, there’s that other distinct possibility: that our obedience will make no human sense on this side of heaven. In other words, what God accomplishes through our willingness may never be fully revealed to us, yet it will be deeply significant. This paradox, this rhythm of faith, is explored throughout these pages. That ‘completely sold-out’ approach is clearly and actively pursued by the real-life Benjamin.

Follow the narrative, but do not expect to learn all the answers. Do not be surprised when the events seem improbable. So many things of God are improbable; they are, in fact, never meant to happen unless there are individuals willing to step out in faith and follow a heavenly lead that most are too deaf to hear.

Throughout this account, the ability of the primary character to hear and see Jesus speaking is addressed in strikingly matter-of-fact ways. For most, this might sound delusional. And yet, both Benjamin and his character have actively cultivated and developed their relationship with Christ to the point that the conversations found within this story will, to the seasoned follower, make perfect and total sense.

May the entirety of this story challenge and encourage you to live a life focused on hearing God and obeying God.

The journey will put you in situations no one would expect. You will meet people no one saw coming including the good, the bad, the central players, and those just passing through. All are moments in time where we are either witnesses of the truth or simply focused on whatever we have decided is most important.

I hope you enjoy the ride. The ending, you will find, is more of a never-ending. The trajectory boggles the mind. The specifics will eventually fade, but the narrative process and the beauty of a life submitted are both indelible.

  • Part 36: Where All Journeys Continue

Front Cover, Back Cover, And Spine Artwork:

Book Description: “Where All Journeys Continue” continues the spiritual journey of a man that began in Part 1: Where All Journeys Begin. This continued journey is through the events of the life of Job. Lead on this journey by God Himself, it is a story that tells how God is God. It is a story written in modern language and using modern storytelling to bring excitement to the telling of the book of Job in a new way. Relive the story in a new way through the eyes of a man desperately in love with God but struggling deeply with his faith. It is a story of revelation and love; with all the pain and agony of the journey we all face each day.

    A Glimpse Inside:

    Chapter 3: The Throne Room

The angel and I stood among the crowd surrounding the brilliant radiance of the Throne of God. I looked everywhere and took in the beauty and majesty of the place. My senses were overwhelmed, and I don’t have the words to describe what I saw there.

I knew it was the day that the sons of God came to present themselves before Him. I knew this as I knew everything as we stood in heaven. Thoughts and knowledge were different here, they were perfect. Knowing and being known happened instantly here. The Holy Spirit filled that place and surrounded everyone and every being there radiating outward from the Throne of God.

I watched the scene before me in silence, as did my guide by my side.

One by one the angels, the sons of God, presented themselves before Him. Conversations happened between them, but those seemed distant and faded as quickly in my mind as they happened. I knew there was only one interaction that I was brought here to witness, and I knew I would only remember that one. Angel after angel presented themselves and then departed. Time had no meaning here in this place.

Soon I saw him, the Dark One, the one from my first journey. He was approaching the Throne of God now and would soon present himself to God. His turn came and he stepped forward and bowed low.

God spoke to the Dark One and I heard God’s words echo in my ears and in my spirit, “Where have you come from?”

The Dark One, Satan, the adversary, the accuser, answered the Lord, “From roaming around on the earth and from walking around on it.” There was a prideful air to the voice of the Dark One. His arrogance was plain to everyone there.

There was a moment of silence, then the Lord asked the Dark One, “Have you considered my servant Job? Have you reflected upon his life? For there is none like him on earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God with reverence and abstains from and turns away from evil because He honors me.”

The Dark One answered the Lord, “Does Job fear You for nothing? Have you not put a hedge of protection around him and his house and all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands and given him prosperity and happiness in all that he does, and his possessions have increased in the land. Put forth Your hand now and destroy all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face.”

Then God said to the Dark One, “Behold, all that Job has is in your power, only do not put your hand on the man himself.”

I watched a twisted smile form on the Dark One’s face as he turned quickly and departed the Throne of God.

The angel put his hand on my shoulder, and I felt its warmth. I stood looking out over the glorious scene before me. “Job.” I thought to myself. “This journey is about Job.”

“Wait,” I said softly to him, “If this is Job’s life, if this is Job’s journey, I am experiencing, then what happens to him next in the story I don’t want to experience.” I looked at the angel and saw sadness in his eyes. I had read the story of Job too many times to count. I had never really understood it. How God allowed all the loss and suffering to come to Job who was righteous and blameless before Him. Another part of a scripture came to mind suddenly as if from nowhere, “The Lord afflicts, but he binds up.” All my questions from all the times I had read the book of Job came flooding back to my mind. All the unanswered questions. I knew God to be God. I knew of God’s majesty, and I loved Job 38-42 so much. The God of all creation was telling Job who He was as the Creator. Then He restores double to Job now that part of the story I would gladly experience. But what came next… No. No one should have to experience all the loss and pain that Job suffered.

“I know.” the angel said, breaking into my thoughts with a whisper. He continued to hold on to my shoulder. “This is the journey God wants you to take and so you must.”

I let my head drop. The first journey was so intense from start to finish but I had learned so much and seen so much. I trusted God, I really, really did. “Why was I wrestling so much with Him?” I wondered, “Why was I so angry?” I knew I needed to finish this journey. I knew God had something He wanted to show me through it and no matter how much I dreaded what came next, I knew I had to face it.

I looked up at the angel and said slowly, “I’m ready.” He nodded his head and we dropped from Heaven like lightning. We were blazing through black space again, with the trail of light streaming from us as we fell. All went black and I knew… I knew what came next…

    A Glimpse Inside:

Chapter 5: Learning To Walk Upside-down

Once there was a boy who lived in a town at the edge of the world. Everyone who lived in this town knew that they were not far from where the world ended and so they stayed clear of the edge of the world.

One day the boy decided that he wanted to see the edge of the world for himself. He wanted to know why everyone was so afraid of the edge and why they kept back from it always. So, he set out in the morning and walked all day to where the edge of the world sat. When he came closer and closer to it, he felt strange. He felt drawn to the edge like it was calling him to come closer.

And closer he came to it. One step at a time he walked closer and closer to the edge. He knew he should turn back, and he knew he should run away but he couldn’t. He had to see what it was… he had to see the edge. And so, on he walked. He could now hear a song coming from the edge. This song sang and sang. It called him to come. He felt himself swaying to its melody.

Suddenly he was standing right on the edge looking out over the vase nothing of the beyond the world. He began to lean forward more and more. The song sang on calling him fall. It sang for him to let go. It sang for him to come and fall. And so, he did. He fell over the edge.

But as he fell, he fell around the edge and found himself standing upside-down at the bottom of the world. All before him was the underside of the world and it was beautiful. It was perfect really. All the trees and grass he saw were green. Nothing was dead or dying. Now what was he to do?

The song called again for him to come and so, step-by-step, the boy learned to walk upside-down, and he began to explore the underside of the world. And he was never seen again on the above.
